BROTHERS 32-30 loss to Fassifern has seen them drop a place to fourth in the Ipswich Rugby League A grade ladder.

The Brethren went down to the last placed Bombers at Raceview, but fifth placed Swifts were unable to capitalise, losing 28-16 to Norths at Purga.

The Bluebirds have obviously realised fourth spot is still up fro grabs however, pushing the Tigers in one of the better IRL matches this year.

Swifts were only down by two points midway through the second half when Norths finally found another gear, putting on three quick tries to take the game away from the home team.

"They put us on the back foot," Norths prop Jacob Stephan said.

"But we defended well in the middle."

Goodna was another team to lose ground following its 36-22 loss to West End at Basin Pocket on Saturday.

The Eagles remain in second spot, behind Norths, but West End have moved closer in third, a win ahead of Brothers.

"We're looking forward to playing Norths next week to see where we're at," West End captain Brook Alofipo said following his team's fourth straight win.

IRL A grade ladder: Norths 22, Goodna 16, West End 14, Brothers 12, Swifts 8, Fassifern 6
