Blues larrikin's high praise for the Royal
VETERAN blues performer Asa Broomhall is ready to blow the roof off the Royal Mail Hotel.
The Brisbane-based artist said he was excited to bring his band to the popular Goodna venue.
"It's an internationally recognised blues venue," he said.
"I'll be playing a bit of blues for sure, otherwise I think I'd be run out of town. We put in energy and the audience gives it back. That's what live music is all about."
Broomhall said he was preparing to record a new album in July after taking a break from song writing.
"I've been busy. I got married and had my son about five weeks ago," he said.
"I'm hoping to release a new EP early next year.
"Having a family gives you a whole different perspective on life so I think that will definitely translate in my music."
The self-confessed 'larrikin' has been performing professionally for 15 years, playing alongside acts such as Diesel, Hoodoo Gurus and Ash Grunwald.
"People can expect an energetic show with plenty of rock, blues and a lot of harmonics and electric guitar," he said. The Asa Broomhall Band will perform at the Royal Mail from 7pm-10pm on June 5.
