Biker critical after crash at intersection

THE rider of an off-road motorcycle is in hospital after a crash at Ripley early this morning.

Queensland Ambulance Service report the single-vehicle incident occurred on the corner of Clarke St and Fischer Rd at 7.32am.

The biker of the Kawasaki was treated at the scene by paramedics and critical care paramedics for leg, pelvic and arm injuries.

The man, presumed to be in his 30s, was later transported to the PA Hospital in a critical condition with a High Acuity Response Unit in attendance.

Police have yet to determine the cause of the accident.

Today's crash is the fifth serious incident involving motorcyclists in the Ipswich region this month.

On Thursday a rider was killed at Tallegalla.

Last Friday, a father of three lost his life when he collided with a ute on Gatton-Laidley Rd.

And two riders were killed in separate crashes on July 3.
