Author comes to tell Wild Yarns

EMERGING author Jindie Jackson will be discussing her debut novel, Wild Yams, in Ipswich on May 24.

Wild Yarns is the textured and poignant story of two Australian families that become entwined through friendship, mythology and Totem animals.

Ms Jackson said it was inspired by a true story.

"The title Wild Yams refers to the Aboriginal characters putting down their spiritual roots in country as they go on their little Walkabouts," she said.

"The novel is based on the unlikely friendship between a young albino girl and an old Aboriginal grandmother, named Nana Birdie."

Ms Jackson will be the special guest at the Meet the Author talk at the Ipswich Central Library on Tuesday, May 24 at 10.30am, in the Barry Jones Auditorium.

Bookings on 3810 6815.
